Park View Little League’s storybook run through the Little League World Series moves on to see another chapter.
In an absolute thriller that saw four lead changes, a fifth-inning two-out home run to tie and a walkoff wild pitch in the sixth, Chula Vista’s little leaguers secured an 11-10 win over Georgia to set up a rematch with San Antonio for the U.S. championship on Saturday (noon, PDT).

CHULA VISTA – A dehydrated and distraught man who called 911 for help about 1 p.m. Wednesday was located by a sheriff’s helicopter crew in a remote, mountainous area and rescued about an hour later, officials said.

In addition to a $15,000 donation by the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, the Pads have contributed $10,000 towards travel costs for the players’ families.
Park View Little League began a fund raising drive this week, in the hopes of raising $45,000 to cover pool play expenses, and $72,000 for the finals.

Eastlake quarterback D’Angelo Barksdale had a busy schedule during the summer and spring, but it’s been paying off for him.
“D’Angelo received an offer from Princeton (last) week,” said his father, Derek. “He has been talking with Coach Hughes all summer and was informed of the package coming in the mail which he received on Tuesday.”

Tony Jefferson, a highly sought linebacker and running back from Eastlake High of Chula Vista, gave the UCLA Bruins a non-binding oral commitment for the class of 2010.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Jefferson was recruited as a safety.
