Angels Foster Family Network Launches Foster Family Search in South Bay

Local business, Kid Ventures, steps up to host three orientation events.

The Angels Foster Family Network (Angels), a 501(c)3 non-profit, licensed foster family agency, is launching an awareness campaign targeting South County to seek and certify qualified foster parents. There are currently more than 4,500 foster children in San Diego County, including a large number in the South Bay. Approximately 1,000 of these foster children are newborns to three years old. Angels focuses on these youngest children.

Most children in traditional foster care are bounced from home to home, with an average of four moves in the first year, never finding a permanent placement. Angels is a new and innovative model that provides the finest, most stable care for the most vulnerable of all foster children: the babies. “This instability causes permanent damage to infants and toddlers who are just learning
to bond and attach,” says Angels Foster Family Network’s founder, Cathy Richman. “We place one child in one loving home. Our success is limited only by our ability to recruit and train qualified foster families.”

Darren and Debbie Solomon, local business owners of Kid Ventures in EastLake and parents of two, are committed to helping Angels get the word out. “We have such a strong, family based network. We feel hosting educational workshops for our members and the community at large will help build awareness and increase the number of foster families in South Bay,” comments
Darren.

Workshops will take place at Kid Ventures at 851 Showroom Place Chula Vista, CA 91914 on Tuesdays at 6:30pm on June 28, July 26 and August 23.
