Deputy Mayor Ramirez and Red Binacional De Corazones To Present Forum On Human Traficking
Eastlake Events, Eastlake Government, Eastlake News Friday, June 24th, 2011Deputy Mayor Rudy Ramirez and Red Binacional de Corazones will be hosting a forum addressing human trafficking on June 30, 2011 in Council Chambers, 276 4th Ave, Chula Vista, CA starting at 10am.
Forum participants will discuss how the recent passing of a human trafficking law in Baja California will affect the issue on both sides of the border. Topics of discussion will include:
-The strengthening of ties and cooperation between U.S. and Mexico
-Sharing research and data
-Creating and/or improving victim services, resources, and educational campaigns
-Developing and standardizing training and protocols for law enforcement and social service providers
-Promoting technology that blocks objectionable material on social networking sites used to facilitate trafficking
-Increasing cross-border community awareness
“The possible level of cooperation by law enforcement officials and civic society on both sides of the border is unprecedented. We need to capture this opportunity and take the first steps with Red Binacional de Corazones,” Deputy Mayor Ramirez said.
Deputy Mayor Ramirez holds “Public Office Hours” each month to address issues of importance to Chula Vista and its residents.
