The City Council’s Public Safety Subcommittee will be considering medical marijuana dispensaries at a meeting Wednesday night.
Council members Patricia Aguilar and Steve Castaneda are set to make a recommendation on dispensaries to the full council in upcoming weeks.

The Chula Vista Fire Department (CVFD) has secured a federal grant to help educate the public about one of our greatest threats ? wildfires. The $15,000 Emergency Management Performance Grant, awarded to local governments, is designed to maintain and increase emergency management resources.

Chula Vista has merged its information technology services with the human resources department for an estimated savings of about $150,000 a year.
Louie Vignapiano, the director of management and information services, retired May 6. The city has decided to save the cost of his salary by consolidating two departments under one manager.
