Court ruling affirms the Chula Vista Police Department correctly terminated former police officer
A San Diego Superior Court Judge Ruled on Friday that the Chula Vista Police Department was correct to terminate former police officer and beauty queen Deanna Mory, possibly ending five years of litigation against Mory’s former employer.
The department terminated Mory for entering her ex-fiancé’s residence and taking back an $18,000 diamond engagement ring she had returned to him after she broke off their engagement. Earlier in the week, a different San Diego Superior Court Judge also ruled in a separate criminal action that the ring correctly belonged to Mory’s ex-fiancé, and ordered possession of the ring returned to him.
Attorney for the City Ed Zappia stated the City is pleased that yet another judge has rejected Mory’s claims, and hopes this will bring an end to 5 years of meritless litigation against the City.
