Recently, the U-T San Diego recognized Andrew Calica, an Eastlake High School as one of 13 All-Academic Team Captains for Spring sports.
The Eastlake outfielder will join UC Santa Barbara from Eastlake High after receiving numerous awards in his junior season. Calica was a First Team All League player and a Second Team All-CIF player. He has experience in the Junior Olympics and hit .468 last year with a .585 on-base percentage and
The U-T San Diego recognized 7,059 high school juniors and seniors as members of the All-Academic Team for maintaining a 3.0 or higher cumulative, weighted GPA while playing a California Interscholastic Federation-approved varsity sport.
Selection of the Captains, made by the U-T staff, was based on academic and athletic achievement and overall leadership.
