Chula Vista police station, officers and civilians honored

There was a lot to celebrate at the Chula Vista Police Department headquarters on Fourth Avenue last Thursday. The department hosted its 20th annual Awards & Recognition Ceremony, honoring exceptional service by sworn officers and members of the community.

One honoree was Vanessa Stewart, a security officer for Otay Ranch Town Center who was working last year during an Apple Store robbery in which one suspect was killed. Stewart tracked the incident via surveillance cameras to help police officers apprehend two more suspects.
