Floaties Swim School, a year-round indoor swimming school, is opening for swimming lessons on Monday, April 23, at its new swimming facility located at 851 Showroom Place, Suite 102, Chula Vista, California, 91914. The swimming complex also combines a playroom and party room for private events. The public is invited to tour the approximately 6000 square foot facility at an Open House taking place April 19 and 20th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Floaties in Eastlake is the second swimming school founded by San Diego County residents, Mike and Karyn Morrill, who opened Floaties in Poway in 2006.
Infant Aquatics is available for infants 3 months and up, with parental participation. Core classes are for children 12 months and older, and focus on developing confidence in and around the water. Pre-Strokes classes and Strokes Classes help children begin and develop techniques for learning the four major swim strokes. Classes range in price from a series of 6 lessons for $126 to a series of 12 lessons for $210 (not including a one-time registration fee of $25). Floaties’ instructors teach from a salt-water pool that remains at a comfortable 92 degrees. Children learn to be water-safe in and around a pool, surrounded by a non-threatening and fun environment.
“With the summer months approaching, it’s important to remember that drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for young children,” said Mike Morrill. “May is National Drowning Prevention Month. Living in Southern California, we firmly believe that every child should learn how to swim early in life,” he said.
