The City Council today will consider allocating about $290,000 to take a step forward in plans to build a university.
The city plans to contract with Sapetto Group Inc., for a public outreach and participation process for the project. The community relations firm met with Chula Vista leaders late last month when an $80,000 university report was presented to the council’s University Committee comprised of Mayor Cheryl Cox and Councilman Rudy Ramirez.

Police are investigating the burglary of a Chula Vista police officer’s home late Monday night.According to police, the incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. at a home in southeast Chula Vista.The early morning watch commander told 10News the unidentified officer came home Monday night to find some items, such as his television originally placed upstairs, in the kitchen. Police believe the burglars’ work was interrupted when the officer returned home.

Otay Ranch Town Center will host an LED Holiday Lighting Exchange sponsored by San Diego Gas & Electric and the City of Chula Vista. The public is invited to bring up to three strands of old Christmas tree lights and exchange them for three new energy saving holiday LED light strands.

Energy efficient LED lighting will light up Chula Vista’s Civic Center complex over the holidays at no cost to the City. A 22-year-old Chula Vista man led Murrieta police on a foot chase Friday evening after officers stopped him on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle, according to a Murrieta Police Department news release.
