Chula Vista to weigh PR for university plan

The City Council today will consider allocating about $290,000 to take a step forward in plans to build a university.

The city plans to contract with Sapetto Group Inc., for a public outreach and participation process for the project. The community relations firm met with Chula Vista leaders late last month when an $80,000 university report was presented to the council’s University Committee comprised of Mayor Cheryl Cox and Councilman Rudy Ramirez.

Look out for the Library Express – the latest addition to the Chula Vista Public Library! South Bay Volkswagen has donated a colorful van to the Library for its efforts to reach residents outside the library walls. The van, with seating for seven, includes two TV screens,
multiple connections for electronic gadgetry, fold away seating, as well as rear seats that can be reconfigured for tailgating.

Chula Vista’s Police Officer’s Home Burglarized

Police are investigating the burglary of a Chula Vista police officer’s home late Monday night.According to police, the incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. at a home in southeast Chula Vista.The early morning watch commander told 10News the unidentified officer came home Monday night to find some items, such as his television originally placed upstairs, in the kitchen. Police believe the burglars’ work was interrupted when the officer returned home.

Flip That House Eastlake Style

Chula Vista will be using federal funds to flip foreclosed homes through a program aimed at revitalizing neighborhoods and providing first-time homebuyers with affordable housing.

More than 14 foreclosed homes are being resold with $1.4 million of Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds and HOME Investment Partnership Program money.

Otay Ranch Town Center Welcomes Santa Claus With the First “Snow” Of The Season

On Saturday, November 20th at 6:00 PM, Otay Ranch Town Center invites the community to give Santa Claus a warm welcome for the holiday season.

Otay Ranch Town Center will officially kick off the holiday season with The 4th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa’s Arrival Parade. In addition, children and families will be delighted to see the first “snow” of the holiday season. The 30′ tree will be decorated with 10,000 white twinkle lights and traditional holiday ornaments. After the parade, the Momentum Church of Otay Ranch will be doing a live theatrical holiday performance in the Food Pavilion.

As per the recent census there are approximately over 24.9 million military veterans in the United States alone. No doubt, solders and military personnel are assets to any country. They are the people who fight for the safety and security of their country and help ensure sovereignty of it.

City Hall Offices Closed For Veteran’s Day

The City of Chula Vista offices will be closed Thursday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. All city libraries, recreation centers and swimming pools will be closed. The one exception is the Chula Vista Nature Center, which will offer free admission to veterans, current members of the U.S. armed forces, and their families with valid military I.D. on Veterans Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
