Chula Vista man leads Murrieta Police on chase

Flores was found a short time after the foot chase started walking along Winchester Road near Winchester Creek and arrested on possession of burglary tools, vehicle theft and resisting a police officer, according to the release. He was booked into Southwest Detention Center.
The chase began at 7:24 p.m. Friday night, when Corporal Matt Henry tried to pull over a vehicle on Murrieta Hot Springs Road because the vehicle was driving without front headlights, the release stated. The vehicle came to a stop, the driver got out of the car and looked at the officer then ran into a vacant field south of the intersection.
According to the release, Police ran the license plate and found the car had been reported stolen out of Chula Vista on Nov. 1. Police found a shaved key inside the car’s ignition.
Officers, with the help of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies, set up a perimeter near the traffic stop and began searching for the driver. After 16 minutes, Corporal Steve Whiddon found Flores walking on Winchester Road. Flores was out of breath and his clothes were disheveled, according to the release. Henry identified Flores as the driver of the vehicle.
