Marine Scores Hole In One At Eastlake Country Club
Marine Master Sgt. Kevin Knight isn’t sure to what he should credit his good luck, but he scored a hole-in-one during last week’s golf tournament benefiting the California Veterans Home in Eastlake, Chula Vista and won a car.
Knight said he looked away when his shot landed about 2 feet from the pin on the 188-yard, par 3 hole at Eastlake Country Club. He quickly learned from his teammates that it bounced a couple of feet, then rolled in.
“I was in shock because these kinds of things don’t happen to me,” said Knight, who can’t remember ever before winning anything.
Knight, a 17-year active-duty Marine from Augusta, Ga., started playing golf two years ago, and this was his first hole-in-one.
With three teenagers at home and 108,000 miles on his 2002 Mercedes-Benz, a new car will come in handy, said Knight, who picked up his pearl-black 2010 Dodge Challenger on Friday from McCune Motors in National City.
