Instruction is professional, fundamental, focusing on Full Swing, Chipping, and Putting Fundamentals. We will learn the rules of golf and etiquette with lots of fun drills, competitions and prize giveaways.
Under blue skies, and bright sunshine, Eastlake Little League’s 7/8 TOC team beat rival Sweetwater Valley 9-4 at Eastlake’s Little League complex and have clinched a spot in 2011 Tournament of Champions Finals.
Deputy Mayor Rudy Ramirez and Red Binacional de Corazones will be hosting a forum addressing human trafficking on June 30, 2011 in Council Chambers, 276 4th Ave, Chula Vista, CA starting at 10am.
The City of Chula Vista offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Closures include all city recreation centers, pools, and libraries. The Chula Vista Nature Center will be open normal hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fundamentals of Rock Climbing Class
Learn the basics of climbing in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. This class will include an overview of the sport as well as individualized instruction in belaying, climbing equipment and climbing technique. All gear is provided.

In the past weeks the CVPD has noticed an increase in burglaries through open windows. In an effort to enhance public safety we’re presenting the following fact sheet.
THE FACTS
In the United States, a burglary takes place every eight seconds. Incredibly, half of all burglaries that take place are not the result of any kind of forced entry! This disturbing statistic also implies that many victims may also known or be familiar to the robber who may have obtained access to a key.

Chula Vista City Council Approves Fee Hike For City’s 50 Sports Fields
Parents are mobilizing in Chula Vista after learning the City Council approved fee hikes for the city’s 50 sports fields that some say could threaten the existence of some youth sports teams.
The Chula Vista Recreation Department will be competing against other parks and recreation agencies nationwide in a Flash Mob contest sponsored by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). This special activity is to recognize July as Parks and Recreation Month. A Flash Mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and/or fun act for a brief time, then quickly disperse.
The Chula Vista Police Department will be closed to the public for business related purposes Fridays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning July 1, 2011. Other police services, including officers responding to calls for service, will still be available. Please log on to www.chulavistapd.org for online reporting of certain crimes.

Two men have been arrested in connection with a pair of purse-snatch robberies at a Chula Vista store, where the women were selected, stalked, then confronted, police said Tuesday.
A 40-year-old woman who was with her 3-year-old child in Hometown IGA market on E Street was robbed of her purse by three men who surrounded her inside the store on Feb. 1, police Lt. Lon Turner said. He said one man tugged her purse off her shoulder and all three men escaped in a blue or gray sedan.
Chula Vista Fire Department (CVFD) will host a press conference to kick off its READY, SET, GO! wildfire preparedness campaign. In highlighting this program, CVFD will discuss the elements of the Ready, Set, Go! campaign, which intends to prepare residents to get ready by performing the necessary brush management around their homes; get set by creating a personal action plan; and leave early and not wait on an evacuation order.
