Could Your Child be Anemic?

It’s cold and flu season, so no big surprise that I am seeing lots of coughs, colds, sore throats and fevers. What is surprising though is all of the infants and children with anemia. Most cases of anemia in children are a result of iron deficiency and that’s exactly what I am seeing. In fact, iron deficiency is one of the most common yet undetected problems in children. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends screening for anemia at the 9-month, 2-year, and 5-year exams. Our Human Village -Those Important Conversations

BY ED HERRERA AND JILL GALVEZ

Only a year after voters overwhelmingly defeated a sales-tax hike, Chula Vista City Hall is proposing yet another tax increase.

According to City Hall, Proposition H proposes a simple update to protect the city’s telecommunications tax revenue stream. What the measure does is expand the scope of the tax, thereby increasing revenues. Many wireless subscribers will see a zero to 5 percent increase. The ballot language fails to indicate the possible increases in taxes. It states the opposite.
