Eastlake Titans Beat El Camino 34-6

The Wildcats came into Stan Canaris Stadium with two goals in mind, stop the Titan ground game and avenge last year’s playoff loss to Eastlake.

Neither would happen last Friday night as the Titans won the game 34-6 and had twelve players combine for 418 yards rushing. Eastlake is now 3-0 on the season and face the 3-0 Cougars of Steele Canyon on 9-24-10 at home

No on Proposition H: Chula Vista Utility Users’ Tax Hike

Only a year after voters overwhelmingly defeated a sales-tax hike, Chula Vista City Hall is proposing yet another tax increase.

According to City Hall, Proposition H proposes a simple update to protect the city’s telecommunications tax revenue stream. What the measure does is expand the scope of the tax, thereby increasing revenues. Many wireless subscribers will see a zero to 5 percent increase. The ballot language fails to indicate the possible increases in taxes. It states the opposite.

Eastlake won the game 42-21 with a physical ground game led by Jude Isbell and a defense that held their opponent when necessary.

Chula Vista Mayor, City Council Voluntarily Take First Step Toward Pension Reform

Chula Vista’s Mayor, City Council and the City’s executive staff have all agreed to voluntarily pay the employee share of their CalPERS retirement plans no later than January 2011.

The contribution amounts to an 8-9% cut in compensation and will generate over $201,236 in taxpayer savings.

WINTER YOUTH COED BASKETBALL REGISTRATION STARTS SEPTEMBER 27

The Chula Vista Recreation Department will begin registration for the Winter 2010-2011 Youth Coed Basketball League on Monday, September 27.

Cost is $95 for residents and $119 for non-residents for the first child. For a second child or more, the cost is $75 for residents and $94 for non-residents.

Eastlake High School Football is 1-0 with win over Moorpark

The Eastlake Titans opened up the 2010 season against the Moorpark Musketeers.

Jude Isbell, Jordan Hines, and Chris Fletcher all scored touchdowns for the titans.

Chula Vista Fire and Police to host 9/11 ceremony this Saturday at Fire Station #7

On Saturday September 11, 2010, the City of Chula Vista Fire and Police Departments will be honoring the victims of 9/11 with a brief ceremony.

The ceremony will take place at Fire Station # 7 and begin at 9:40 am with the ceremonial ringing of the bell at 0959 (time the first  tower fell). The Chula Vista Fire and Police Color Guards will be on site to present our nation’s colors and assist with the bell ringing.

Chula Vista resident arrested for suspected involvement in two stabbing incidents.

On 9-2-10, members of the Chula Vista Police Street Team/Gang Suppression Team arrested Andrew Pequeno, DOB 3/22/1991, at the Plaza Bonita Shopping Center.

Pequeno, a resident of Chula Vista was wanted in connection with two separate incidents involving an assault with a deadly weapon.  Both incidents occurred in the City of Chula Vista in the month of August and the victims received serious, but non-life threatening stab wounds.
