Where The Wild Things Are Food & Wine Classic June 2nd

A fundraiser for the newly re-branded Living Coast Discovery Center (formerly Chula Vista Nature Center) featuring cooking demonstrations, wine and food tastings, live music, animal encounters and more is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, from 3 to 7 p.m..

All proceeds from the culinary celebration will benefit the center’s animals, exhibits, and coastal wildlife conservation and education programs.

This year’s celebrity chef lineup includes Executive Chef Lance Repp from La Valencia Hotel, Chef Jeff Roberto from Sushi on a Roll and Chef Karl Klein from the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista.

The four-hour event will include live cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs, as well as samplings from dozens of favorite local restaurants, wineries, breweries and spirits companies. Guests will be treated to up-close animal encounters with some of the Nature Center’s residents, including hawks, owls and reptiles, while soaking up the natural beauty of the wildlife refuge and San Diego Bay. Live and silent auctions will feature collector’s wines, vacation packages and other unique experiences and prizes.

Where the Wild Things Are is sponsored this year by Sempra Energy, BAE Systems, Marine Boat Groups, Espiritu Santi, Don Smith, Jorgina Franzheim and Tijuana Duty Free. Last year’s event raised over $50,000 for the Nature Center, representing the nonprofit organization’s largest fundraiser of the year.
