Detectives arrested a 20-year-old Chula Vista man after he alleged molested a young relative for nearly a year, authorities announced Thursday.
Carlos Ojeda is accused of molesting a victim under the age of 14 since July 2011, with the latest incident occurring about three weeks ago, according to Chula Vista Capt. Gary Ficacci.
Around noon Thursday, Ojeda was arrested without incident, just one day after detectives began investigating the molestation report, Ficacci said.
Ojeda works as a contract tutor at Lauderbach Elementary School in Chula Vista and is a volunteer coach for a youth football league. The alleged victim is not a student at the school or a member of the team Ojeda coaches.
Ficacci declined to disclose the alleged victim’s gender or relationship to the suspect, and would only say that the juvenile is younger than 10.
Ojeda will be charged of lewd act with a minor and oral copulation with a minor, the captain said.
Detectives have no indication that there are additional victims.
