400-Plus Rental Units Coming To Eastlake
Construction has started on a residential community of 400-plus units in Chula Vista, adjacent to the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox said it’s the first major project in the area in about five years.
“The city is very excited to see development activity on the east side,” Cox said in a recent interview.
The new rental project, being built by ColRich, will comprise 427 townhouses and row homes, south of Olympic Parkway and Wueste Road. Rent is expected to range from $1,500 to $2,500 a month.
Given the development’s proximity to the training center, officials expect that athletes may take advantage of some of the units, which have up to three bedrooms and are as big as 1,482 square feet.
Cox said some athletes have to go “to the far reaches of town” to find places to live. The new units will be within walking distance of their training facility, she said.
Project leaders expect that the first phase will be completed for a fall grand opening. The final stage may be finalized late next year.
Amenities will include swimming pools, two clubhouses and fitness centers.
