Thieves fail in attempt to steal freestanding outdoor ATM located at the Otay Ranch Town Center.

Eastlake Times Police Blotter

At 2:48 this morning Chula Vista Police were alerted to the Otay Ranch Town Center by silent alarm after thieves used a semi-tractor truck (blue in color) to knock over and attempt to steal an outdoor ATM.

Security video showed the driver of the semi-tractor truck back into the ATM and knock the freestanding machine over.

Moments later a second smaller truck (possibly red in color) pulled up and four men, all dressed in dark clothing, got out and attempted to put the ATM in the bed of the smaller truck.

The cash dispenser was apparently too heavy and ackward to lift and the suspects left without it.

Officers found the ATM lying on its side on a sidewalk on mall property.

Anyone with information regarding the trucks, the drivers or the incident is encouraged to call the Chula Vista Police Depoartment at (619) 691-5151.
