Sign Spinner Stabbed by Chula Vista Teen

According to the Southwest Riverside News Network, a 24-year-old man working as a sign spinner in Chula Vista was allegedly stabbed by a teenage boy, who was later arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall, a police lieutenant said today.

The 16-year-old suspect allegedly approached the victim, drew a knife and attacked around 4:15 p.m. Saturday at 4250 Bonita Road, Chula Vista police Lt. Eric Thunberg said.

As the man tried to back away, he was cut on his abdomen, Thunberg said.

The victim was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery, but police expected him to survive.

The victim was able to identify his alleged attacker as resident of a nearby apartment complex and pointed out the suspect’s father’s vehicle, Thunberg said.

Officers located the suspect’s father, who allowed officers to check the residence, but the suspect was not there, Thunberg said.

Other officers set up a perimeter near the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course, and located the suspect hiding beneath a bridge, Thunberg said.

The alleged attacker was arrested without incident, he said.
