Eastlake 9/10 U Little League Crowned District 42 Champions

Undefeated and going into their final game of the district tournament, the 9/10 Eastlake Little League beat rival Sweetwater Valley 8-5 to be crowned as District 42 champions.

The team, led by Manager, Doug Holman, got into a hole early from an early Sweetwater Valley homerun, but the team maintained their composure and slowly came back beating the Little League rival from Bonita, California.

The City of Chula Vista offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, July 4, 2011 in observance of Independence Day. Closures include all city recreation centers, pools, and libraries.

The Chula Vista Nature Center will be open normal hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  In addition, all Chula Vista Public Libraries will be closed July 2, 3 and 4 and will re-open on July 5 for normal hours.

SANDAG awarded $100M for I-805 South expansion

The California Transportation Commission has allocated $100 million for the construction of car pool lanes on Interstate 805, between East Palomar Street and State Route 15.

Jack Dale, a member of the San Diego Association of Governments board of directors and a Santee councilman, said the timing of the award was unexpected and as a result, the project timetable could be moved up.
